Roboto Monthly Meeting - Minutes for the 4/13/03
Meeting
(1) Introduction
(2) Old Business, see March meeting minutes
(3) New Business
Facililities (DHD/Jen)
- The glass of the front door has been broken again by some lovely
neighborhood kids who weren.t happy by the must-pay-to-enter policy we.ve
adopted. We.re looking into replacing the glass eventually, but also
putting up the steel bars to prevent attacks from the outside.
- Jen called several places regarding the replacement of our storefront
windows. Prices ranged from $4000 to $900, so we will be contacting the
landlord about possible options.
- Code Brown. The toilet is still having problems, so if anyone needs to
do the number two, they can use the bathroom next door at the Multi-Tool.
- Cleaning after shows has been rather lax lately. Promoters should make
sure to clean up Roboto before leaving after shows. Thanks.
Booking (Jeremy Carson)
- Several promoters have not paid amounts due for shows they.ve booked.
One promoter will have currently reserved show dates revoked as he has
failed to respond to our telephone and email attempts to contact him. In
the future, failure to pay fees for reserving the space will result in a
removal of all future reserved dates and a suspension of booking
privileges.
- Jeremy will be creating a guide to the booking position to benefit the
next and future scheduling board members.
Finances (Q)
- Balance: $3099.23
- Taxes are completed, running a whopping $300. We still need to pay our
accountant his fee, which is higher than the amount of taxes we paid.
Curious.
- The Mr. Roboto Project now has over $200 in bad debts from promoters
failing to pay for events (as mentioned above). Q has proposed a bad
debt list to be created and passed on to other venues in the area so that
promoters do not continue to act irresponsibly towards venues.
- The building Roboto is housed in is for sale by the landlord. He has
made a provision that in the case of its sale, all leases must be honored
for the remainder of their term. Anyone want a building?
PR/Secretary (Jeremy Hedges)
- Renewals are proceeding splendidly on the quarter-yearly plan. We.ve
also been checking memberships, updating information, and this has helped
in encouraging renewals.
- The proposal for a financial union between the Multi-Tool and Roboto
passed last month (April).
- If you.ve received a membership card without a number in the past few
weeks, contact info@therobotoproject.org and we.ll hook you up with your
membership number.
- If you haven.t renewed and you.re due, please do so!
(4) Open Forum
- The election for the Scheduling Board Member position was not
necessary, as only one candidate, Joe Wilk, ended up running.
Congratulations to Joe, and thank you to Jeremy Carson for his great
work!
- The +/- Studios may be moving in down the street. Hooya!
- We.ve been discussing updates to the website for the past several
months. Several suggestions made at the meeting included: adding the
promoter packet to the website; finally cataloging pictures from shows
and accepting submissions; placing the address, phone number, and email
addresses on the front page; and including more up-to-date directions,
bus information and links. The board will be meeting with Matt
Singerman, the webmaster, to discuss possible changes in the coming
months.
